Closing date
20 October 2008 The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Programme provides grants for US academic institutions to host New Zealand academics to teach for one semester or full academic year. Preference is given to institutions that otherwise have limited opportunities to participate in the Fulbright Scholar Programme. Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence can have a significant impact on U.S. colleges and universities. In addition to teaching courses, scholars give campus-wide and community lectures, help initiate international programs and contribute to curriculum development. Although preference is given to proposals in the humanities or social sciences, other fields focusing on international issues will be considered. The Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence programme is especially appropriate
for small liberal arts colleges, minority-serving institutions, and community
colleges, many of which do not often have the opportunity to host visiting
scholars. Entitlement
Host institutions generally propose some cost-sharing, such as a salary
supplement for the scholar and/or in-kind support such as housing, meals
and travel. Award conditions
