The Fulbright New Century Scholars Programme (NCS) brings
together 25-30 outstanding research scholars and professionals from around
the world to engage in multidisciplinary collaboration of the highest
quality on a topic of substantial global significance.
In it's sixth year, 2009, the programme will focus on the role of higher
education in national and global economic development with a specific
focus on The University as Innovation Driver and Knowledge Center.
To create a platform for collaborative thinking and pursuit of tangible
solutions to issues of universal concern, NCS combines the traditional
Fulbright exchange experience (a research visit to the US of 2-3 months
duration) with a series of three in-person seminar meetings and ongoing
communication among the multinational and multidisciplinary participants
.
At the end of the programme year, scholars share the results of their
collaborative interaction and engagement in a public forum at which they
present their conclusions and recommendations for initiatives that will
translate the results of their collaborative thinking into tangible impact
on the local, regional or global level.
Academics or professionals operating in the academic, public or private
sectors in any field directly related to the NCS theme are invited to
apply. Applicants with strong interdisciplinary and comparative interests
are especially welcome.
