National Library of New Zealand

The general collections held in the National Library of New Zealand consists of approximately 530,000 titles is built to back up the information resources of all New Zealand libraries, across all subjects, at varying levels of intensity. Most of the collection has been acquired since 1965. The primary collecting focus is on New Zealand and Pacific resources. Since 1993 there has been a particular focus for overseas resources on building on collection strengths in business, family history, library and information science and music resources. The collection is also strong in art, architecture, performing arts, religion and philosophy resources.

Alexander Turnbull Library

The Alexander Turnbull Library holds New Zealand’s documentary research collections. These collections contain original material such as photos, drawings, prints, maps, oral histories, printed ephemera, manuscripts, archives, and printed material - newspapers, books and magazines - relating to New Zealand and the Pacific. They also contain the largest collection of early printed books in New Zealand - including early voyages, works relating to John Milton and the 17th century - and examples of fine printing from around the world.
