WelcomeAn official welcome to New Zealand for the participants of the 2004 Fulbright-Hays Programme. Speaker: Jennifer Gill, Executive Director, Fulbright New Zealand Jennifer Gill is the Executive Director of Fulbright New Zealand and is currently the chair of the Fulbright East Asia Regional Executive Director's group. Jennifer has been the Executive Director of Fulbright NZ since 1994. For the ten years leading up to her Fulbright appointment she was the Executive Officer of one of New Zealand's largest Foundations -- the Roy McKenzie Foundation. She has extensive experience in the voluntary sector in New Zealand, which includes working as a Regional Director of CORSO, New Zealand's largest overseas aid agency at the time. She was instrumental in the establishment of Philanthropy New Zealand and the New Zealand Funding Information Service. Jennifer is a trained teacher and has a BA in Sociology from Victoria University of Wellington, and a Diploma of Teaching from the Auckland College of Education. The Treaty of WaitangiThis session will describe the historical events giving rise to the Treaty's current political status, its legal status and its relevance in New Zealand society.
