The New Zealand immigration rules allow partners and spouses to work
if they have an offer of employment for which they are qualified and for
which there are no suitable New Zealanders available. They may also be
able to work if they meet one of the immigration special categories. You

The immigration process can take up to four weeks or longer. Therefore,
if your spouse wishes to work in New Zealand, it is beneficial to make
contacts in the intended field of employment before departing the US.
